There is growing legislation and other regulation in the UK, the EU and other jurisdictions which do or will impose responsibilities on companies for impacts of their activities which cause or contribute to, or are linked to, human rights and environmental impacts. These are being developed in parallel with litigation on these issues. Increasingly companies in all sectors need to be aware of their obligations in regard to responsible business conduct. In addition states, state-owned enterprises, international organisations, civil society and others are seeking advice in this area. This seminar will consider some of the core issues which arise, including the general move to bring corporate issues into public law areas.
