On Monday 20th November 2024, Maya Lester KC (for her newly relaunched site globalsanctions.co.uk) organised and spoke at a webinar with the UK Government on the test for 'ownership and control' by designated persons in UK sanctions law.

Other speakers were Daniel Drake (Deputy Director, Sanctions Directorate, Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office), Bethany Davies (Deputy Director, Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation) and Chloe Cina (Head of Global Sanctions Advisory at Deutsche Bank), in conversation with Maya and Michael O’Kane (Peters & Peters).

Discussion included the Government’s recent guidance on ownership & control, the Court of Appeal’s judgment in Mints & Ors v PJSC National Bank Trust and the High Court’s judgment in Litasco.
