The Hearing: PhosAgro could be one of the last oligarch showdowns

17/04/24

The Lawyer, 17/4/24

A last hurrah? The case has loud echoes of past oligarch disputes, particularly the infamous Berezovsky v Abramovich/Sumption v Rabinowitz case of 2011/12. Another fight over the true ownership of a Russian company based on an unwritten agreement, the case sees the joint head of Essex Court Paul Stanley KC and colleague David Scorey KC square off against the joint head of Brick Court and joint head of Blackstone Chambers, Helen Davies KC and Tom Weisselberg KC. The difference here? The hearing could be one the last instances of major Russian litigation in London’s courts.
