An UNCITRAL Tribunal constituted under the Mauritius–India BIT has rendered a Partial Final Award in long-running investor–State proceedings, presided over by former Vice-President of the International Court of Justice, Judge Awn Al-Khasawneh.
The decision has been disclosed in a mandatory stock exchange filing by the successful claimant, Patel Engineering Ltd, which notes that the Tribunal found in favour of Patel Engineering on claims arising from expropriation of a lease in Mauritius and that some $40 million plus interest was awarded against the State as damages for those breaches.
