Daniel Jowell KC named in The Lawyer Hot 100 2025

When Brick Court’s Daniel Jowell KC started out as a barrister, he mainly practiced commercial law along with some competition law, featuring in blockbuster oligarch disputes like the Abramovich, Deripaska and Bogolyubov cases. But the market has since evolved and competition litigation is booming. This means that many of the sought-after silk’s cases are now in that sphere, including those in the burgeoning class actions regime. His commercial litigation background means he has vast experience in cross-examining witnesses, putting him in high demand for the mammoth competition disputes that are making their way through the Competition Appeal Tribunal, which are very fact- and witness-heavy cases.

In 2024 Jowell advised the Premier League on its new rules on Associated Party Transactions, led a five-member counsel team for Visa in the ‘pass-on’ trial in the interchange fee umbrella proceedings and acted for Allergen in the Hydrocortisone appeals, where he was the only appellant to secure a large reduction to Allergen’s fine. He was also brought in by Epic Games in its case against Google, which heads to trial in 2026, and defended Meta in relation to several investigations brought by the European Commission.

In 2025, he will act in the Qualcomm class action as it heads to trial in October, for MAN in the trucks litigation, Yorkshire Water in the wastewater class action and Mowi in the salmon cartel claims.
